The 360° IT Project Journey: How One Software Product Brings 12+ IT Roles Together
"I want to get into IT — but I don't know which role is for me."
I hear this every week. And the honest reason most people stay stuck is simple: they've never seen what IT actually looks like from the inside. They know job titles — Developer, Tester, DevOps — but they don't know how those titles work together to build a real product.
So before our series dives into individual roles, this pilot episode does something different. We follow one real project, end to end, and you'll see every IT role show up exactly where it's needed.
The Scenario
A financial services company wants to build an AI-powered customer support agent. Customers ask thousands of questions every day — about loans, payments, KYC, account issues — and the company wants an AI that handles most of them instantly.
Sounds simple from outside. Let's go inside.
The 8 Phases — And Who Shows Up
Phase 1 — Business Need. A Business Analyst captures requirements and translates them into language engineers can understand. Every IT project begins here — not with code.
Phase 2 — Proof of Concept. A small senior team — Solution Architect, AI/ML Engineer, Data Scientist — proves the idea is technically possible before the company invests crores.
Phase 3 — Project Funding. A Project Manager builds the plan, timeline, and budget. Finance approves. The project becomes real.
Phase 4 — Team Formation. The full squad assembles: Frontend Developers, Backend Developers, Data Engineers, Cloud Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Security Engineers, AI/ML Engineers, and QA Testers. Each one has a specific lane.
Phase 5 — Execution. The team works in agile sprints — 2-week cycles — building data pipelines, training AI, designing the interface, and setting up infrastructure all in parallel.
Phase 6 — Testing. QA breaks the product on purpose, before real users do. Performance, security, and user acceptance testing.
Phase 7 — Deployment. DevOps pushes the product live. Cloud Engineers ensure the infrastructure scales.
Phase 8 — Support and Growth. Data Analysts track real usage. AI Engineers retrain the model. The product gets better continuously.
Why This Matters for Your Career
Twelve-plus distinct roles, each one critical, each with its own skills and salary. Whatever your background — finance, mechanical engineering, BPO, fresh graduate — there's a lane in IT for you. The question is which lane.
Over the next nine episodes, we go deep into each role: daily work, entry paths, salary in India and globally, and how AI is reshaping every single one.
Watch this pilot first. Then pick the role that resonates. Your IT journey starts here.
